In my last blog post I wrote 10 goals we should all set ourselves for 2019, one of them was to read more books. There are so many amazing self-help books out there to really inspire and motivate you to conquer your goals. Here are my top 5 books from the past few years and 5 books that I hope to read this year.
1. The Magic – Rhonda Byrne
This is one of those books that I always go back and read time and time again. If you haven’t read ‘The Secret’ I would suggest you start with that first. The Magic gives you all of the inspirational quotes you could ever need, along with a 28-day guide to teach you how to apply the Law of Attraction to your life.
2. You are a Badass – Jen Sincero –
You are a Badass is a light-hearted self-help book that focuses on how to stop procrastinating and doubting your greatness. It gives you tips and tricks on how to stop self-sabotage and start making every day important. If you are looking for a book that will make you laugh, give you motivation whilst containing the occasional swear word this book is for you.
3. The Five Second Rule – Mel Robbins
This book focuses on a simple technique that can help you to stop procrastinating on the small everyday tasks, which then helps you to achieve your big goals. It’s interesting to see how much you can change your life in just 5 seconds.
4. Lucky Bitch / Get Rich Lucky Bitch - Denise Duffield-Thomas
Hands down my top two books of 2018, Denise is a life coach that focuses on helping women achieve their money goals. I can honestly say these books have changed my life, and have helped me to effortlessly increase my finances. Ladies if you only read one book this year make it 'Lucky Bitch'.
5. The Miracle Morning - Hal Elrod
The Miracle Morning is a book that helps you to change your morning routine. This book provides information around why waking up at 5am can change your life, by providing you with a morning ritual that will allow you to do all of the things you say you'll do, and all before 6am!
5 Books I want to read in 2019
1. Think and Grow Rich – Neopolian Hill
This is probably one of the most well known self-help books, one you have heard of but may have never read. Neopolian Hill spent 20 years researching successful people in America, which he then translates into an action guide to help you develop the skills and mindset required to achieve exceptional success. I started this book in 2018 but am still yet to complete it, I have made it my book of the month.
2. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People - Stephen R Covey
I have heard so many great reviews about this book from some very successful people I follow on Instagram, so I feel like I also need to read it. (Social media marketing at its finest)
3. The Four Hour Work Week - Timothy Ferris
As someone who wants to escape the 9-5 this book title captured me, a fellow millennial who has found a way to work from anywhere in the world - I am all for it!
4. Big Magic – Elizabeth Gilbert
Firstly Elizabeth Gilbert is the author of Eat Pray Love so we are on to a winner. This book helps us to embrace our curiosity and develop the habits we need in order to live our most creative lives.
5. The Chimp Paradox - Prof Steve Peters
This book has been recommended by one of my friends who is currently reading it. It is a mind management book that will help you to develop yourself and give you the skills, for example, to remove anxiety, have confidence and choose your emotions.
I am always wanting to know book recommendations so feel free to drop me a message and let me know your favourite books.
