To be able to improve your life you must first learn how to improve your mindset, your mindset affects all aspects of your life and can either hinder or enhance your success. In order to achieve your goals and become a happier person you need to have a positive mindset. Here are 5 steps you can take in order to change your mindset and become a happier and more positive person.
Gratitude is the very first step, the reason so many people are unhappy or have a negative outlook on the world is because they aren't grateful. Waking up in the morning is a blessing on it's own, when you change your mindset to be grateful for waking up, instead of being angry that you've had to wake up early your whole day begins differently.
Today think of 10 things that you are grateful for, it can be anything from being able to see, or having great health. A bigger challenge is when we start to be grateful for the things that we may not feel grateful for, so the job that you hate, be grateful you have a steady income coming in to be able to pay your bills. If its raining outside be grateful that the rain is watering the crops in order for us to have food.
2) Create new habits
Humans are creatures of habit, we tend to do the same routines because its comfortable. If you have a habit of snoozing your alarm in the morning start with that, your morning habits have a huge impact on your day. Every new day really is a blessing learn to get excited about waking up in the morning. If there is something you've been wanting to do such as go to the gym or learning a new skill schedule time in your diary to make it happen.

3) Live in the moment
Psychology suggests that if you are depressed you are living in the past and if you're anxious you're living in the future. A lot of people spend their time thinking about things that have already happened or worrying about something that could potentially happen in the future. Learning to live in the moment is powerful and something that most self help books will tell you to do. There really is no time like the present you will never be able to relive this moment again, what can you do NOW in order to have a more successful future?

4) Surround yourself with people you want to be like
"If you surround yourself with clowns, don't be surprised when your life resembles a circus"
If you want to become a positive person start surrounding yourself with positive people, if you want to be successful, yeah you've got it, you need to surround yourself with successful people. Who we spend our time with has a huge impact on our own mindset, if is easier to change your own mindset when you are around people who are already living the life you want to live. These types of people will not only inspire you but will motivate you to want to do better.
5) Set small goals
When we achieve a goal we feel accomplished and it gives us the motivation to want to achieve more and set the bar higher. Many people will set a huge goal with a small time frame and then become disappointed and disheartened when they don't achieve it. Have your big goal in mind but set small everyday goals to help you achieve the big goal. If you want to exercise everyday start with a 10 minute workout, this is a small attainable goal that will make you feel great. Each day you will start to feel closer to your end goal.
Changing your mindset doesn't happen overnight but by using these 5 steps everyday you will start to see the change.
